‘Tis the Season…for Sign Language

Since the beginning of the school year, my children have really connected with the sign language we’re studying.  I thought it would be fun to find some videos on Youtube to learn some Christmas signs, and I found something even better – learning songs for LOTS of Christmas carols!  There’s even one for “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”!

So far, these have been the easiest:

We Play Along Kids – Jingle Bells

We Play Along Kids – We Wish You a Merry Christmas (with Santa)

We Play Along Kids – Joy to the World

They have a couple of slowed down versions to teach the signs first before the regular speed videos are played, which was really helpful.  A has been playing them for the past two days as background music to our cookie making and present wrapping!

But, they’ve been up for the challenge and are trying to keep up with and learn that silly “Hippopotamus” song, too!

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas

The countdown is officially down to three fingers…the kids are currently too jazzed to go to sleep and it’s Christmas Eve eve eve.  I wonder if they’ll sleep at all on the 24th…?

I’m not sure I’ll have time to blog until after the holiday, so have a very Merry Christmas!
